The REAP program offers grants for the purchase and installation of renewable energy generation and energy efficiency improvements. Assistance is limited to small businesses and farmers & ranchers.
Projects must be located in a rural area. REAP grants can reimburse up to 25% of the project cost OR $500,000 for renewable energy projects or $250,000 for energy efficiency projects - whichever is less. Well over $23 million of REAP grants will be awarded this year.

Increasingly energy efficiency and renewable energy are common features in rural business projects. Nearly all of USDA Rural Development's programs can support such activities, but several programs are particularly well-suited to rural energy projects.
